Gladstone Village are privileged to have the PA474 Lancaster Flypast as part of this year’s Burton Village Festival on Saturday 10th June. It’s owned by the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and is one of only two airworthy Lancasters in the world – the other is in Canada!
Built at the Vickers Armstrong Broughton Factory at Hawarden, it is currently painted to represent “Thumper Mk III” of 617 (‘Dambuster’) Squadron.
The village have seen her once before in Burton and they can only say, that whether young or old, this fantastic aircraft with the sound of its classic Merlin Engines, is one of the most majestic and nostalgic sights you will ever see. Make no mistake, the best view is from our festival site as the pilot flies low along its length, twice!
